Joel Scanlan

Associate Professor Scanlan has been teaching and consulting with the industry for 20 years in the areas of cybersecurity and privacy. His primary research interests relate to the technical and social harms of the internet, with a particular focus on child exploitation prevention, cybersecurity and machine learning. He has worked on a range of projects related to child protection and online safety with organisations in Australia and Europe, including partnerships with large technology companies aimed at disrupting harmful behaviours occurring on their platforms.
