Richard Wortley
Professor of Crime Science, University of Waikato
Richard is a Professor at the Te Puna Haumaru New Zealand Institute for Security and Crime Science at the University of Waikato and an Emeritus Professor of Security and Crime Science at University College London’s Jill Dando Institute. He began his career as a prison psychologist in Australia, then transitioned to academia. He has published extensively on topics including corrections and sexual offending, and pioneered applying situational prevention methods to combat child sexual abuse. For his significant contributions to criminology and psychology, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia.
